Investment casting in ferrous and non-ferrous metals including magnesium can now be achieved in as little as 2-3 weeks. Waxes are produced from silicone tooling and usually derived from Stereolithography models. The process is suitable for runs of 10-100.
For very low volume castings (1-10) our 'Quickcast' service is another option. This process enables the Stereolithography model to be used directly as the pattern and burned out of the investment flask without the need to tool for waxes. The lead-time for this process can be as little as 2 weeks.
Full heat treatment and inspection/conformity reports can be supplied and full post machining and finishing facilities are also available.
Real components in real materials. When product development demands real test data there is no substitute for the real thing. Rapitypes can deliver components to you or your nominated contractor in 3-4 weeks. We can supply ferrous and non-ferrous metal parts up to 200mm x 400mm x 100mm in size.
We have been making prototype and production mould tooling and foundry patterns for over a decade and have extensive tool-room facilities. Tools and patterns are designed directly from our clients' CAD data or from scratch, and then high-speed machined in tooling board or aluminium alloys to exacting standards and tight schedules.
These are built to the same standards and agreed tolerances as their production equivalents, often with manual core removal to keep costs low and lead times short. This tooling method is used extensively by the automotive and consumer durable industries for obtaining real components in approximately 4 weeks for structural analysis testing or pre-production build for example.
Rapitypes has extensive facilities for CNC machining, pattern making, tool making and part manufacture. We can therefore carry out all of the post-machining operations to Sand cast or Investment cast components prior to delivery.
If you already have them, we can take your raw castings and carry out these machining operations as a separate service. We work to tight tolerances and are set-up to provide for batch-machining, surfacing, sprue-removal and polishing. There is no better solution than CNC machining. More accurate than Rapid Prototyping and available in target materials, CNC machined components provide you with reliable, accurate feedback on your design.
